About Nicola Carter

Painter | Creativity Coach | Visual Storyteller

Nicola Carter is a representational artist and certified creativity coach based in San Diego, California. Working mainly in oil, acrylic, and mixed media, she combines semi-realistic detail with expressive layers, reflecting her lifelong love of nature and fascination with the quiet poetry of everyday life.

Nicola began her professional life in the healing arts as a registered nurse and midwife, later earning a BS in ecological sciences—both disciplines that continue to influence her attunement to detail, interconnectedness, and the rhythms of life. These experiences inform both her visual art and her coaching practice, where she helps others rediscover their creative voice with compassion, clarity, and care.

Originally from South Africa, Nicola has also lived and studied in Australia and now the United States. Her international background brings a richly layered perspective to her work—one shaped by open landscapes, diverse ecosystems, and a reverence for the small, beautiful things that often go unnoticed.

“If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.”

Through the Kaizen-Muse Creativity Coaching Certification, Nicola has supported individuals from all walks of life in reconnecting with their creative selves. At the heart of everything Nicola does—whether on canvas or in conversation—is an invitation to pause, observe, and create with intention.
